Head Football Coach — Demopolis High School
Coach Dustin Goodwin is entering his first season as Head Football Coach for the Demopolis Tigers.
He most recently served as the Head Football Coach and Athletic Director at Russellville High School for the 2024 and 2025 seasons, guiding the Golden Tigers to playoff appearances each season (Class 5A, Region 7).
Previously, Goodwin spent two seasons at Thompson High School as Offensive Assistant and Wide Receivers Coach, helping the Warriors capture the Class 7A State Championship in 2022 and finish as state runner‑up in 2023.
Prior to that, he served as Head Football Coach at Chelsea High School for four seasons, guiding the Hornets to playoff appearances in both 2019 and 2021 (Class 6A, Region 5).
From 2015 to 2017, Goodwin led Plainview High School to three consecutive Class 3A playoff berths, capped by the 2017 Region 7 championship and earning him AHSAA 3A Coach of the Year honors.
In 2014, he was Offensive Coordinator and Quarterbacks Coach at Hueytown High School, then spent 2011–2013 at Homewood High School in multiple roles—including Strength & Conditioning Coordinator—and helped Homewood win back‑to‑back 5A Region 4 titles in 2012 and 2013.
Goodwin launched his coaching career at Russellville, serving as Quarterbacks Coach from 2008 to 2010 under his father, Doug Goodwin. During that tenure, RHS reached the 5A state championship game in both 2008 and 2009, finishing as state runner‑up.
Goodwin played quarterback in high school and collegiately. He graduated from Demopolis High School—earning All‑State honors in both football and baseball—before spending 2004 with Auburn University’s undefeated football team. He completed his collegiate career at the University of North Alabama, contributing to the Lions’ 2006 Gulf South Conference championship.
Academically, Coach Goodwin holds a BS in Physical Education from UNA and a Master’s in Instructional Leadership from the University of West Alabama.
Off the field, Dustin is married to Sara K. Goodwin, a Greensboro native, who is also employed with Demopolis City Schools. They are celebrating 19 years of marriage and have four sons: Whit, Colt, Grant, and Jett.
